Born in New Zealand and trained at Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), Hayden Tee is acclaimed for his work as Performer and Recording Artist in Theatre, Concert and Cabaret throughout New Zealand, Australia, Asia, the U.K and the U.S.A.

 

Hayden is best known for his award winning portrayal of Javert in the Australian and Broadway productions of Les Miserables.

Hayden’s Australian theatre credits include Javert in Cameron Mackintosh’s 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables (Dir. James Powell/ Laurence Connor(Greenroom award), Thomas Andrews in Titanic: The Musical (dir. John Diedrich), Professor Bhaer in Little Women The Musical, (dir; Stuart Maunder) (Glugg Award), Lt. Joe Cable in South Pacific (dir. Joanne Robinson) (A.T.G Award nom), the tours of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (dir. Darren Yap), Songs for a New World (dir. Peter Cousens), The Wizard of Oz (dir. Nancye Hayes),  created the role of Cuddlepie in the workshop of The Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie (dir. Neil Armfield). Hayden made his Opera debut in 2007 appearing in the Australian production of Dead Man Walking (dir. Nigel Jaimeson) in the lead tenor role of Father Grenville. Hayden is a recipient of the Sydney Cabaret Convention New York award.

 

Hayden’s International credits include Marius in Les Miserables West End production and 20th anniversary performance, (London, UK), originating the role of Jack Worthing in the new Gordon/Gruska musical Being Earnest (San Francisco, USA), Edward Rutledge in 1776 (Pittsburgh, USA), Cinderellas Prince/ Wolf in Into the Woods (Atlanta, USA), King Arthur in Camelot (Pittsburgh, USA), Freddy Einsford Hill In My Fair Lady (Boston, USA), Captain Hook / Mr Darling in Peter Pan (PA, USA), Simon Stride and standby Jekyll and Hyde in Jekyll and Hyde (dir; John Diedrich, Sth KR/TWN), Freddy Einsford-Hill in Opera Australia’s production of My Fair Lady (dir; Stuart Maunder, NZ), Bustopher Jones / Gus / Growltiger in Cats (dir. Trevor Nunn / Joanne Robinson, Sth KR) and Grumio in Kiss Me Kate (dir. Elric Hooper, NZ). Hayden ranked in the top twelve of the 2005 BBC Voice of Musical Theatre (Cardiff UK). 

Hayden’s credits as a Director include Godspell (CMRI, Sydney AUS), The Magic Flute (Sydney AUS) and A42A3 for the Short, Sweet and Song Festival (Sydney AUS) which also won the People’s Choice Award.Hayden’s self-titled CD Hayden Tee was selected as one of the five best male CDs of 2003, while in 2009 he released his second album Generation whY? LIVE, both are available on itunes.
